On the Mayan Ruin Adventure you can choos from two destinations. You can head northwest to Xunantunich (stone lady) and "El castillo" or head south to Min Li Punit and Lubaantun (fallen stones). Both destinations are full day trips to explore.

Xunantunich (shoo-nan-too-nitch) is one of the longest occupied cities in the Maya culture, two hundred years longer than other sites of its size. Stand on top of the 130' and view the 360 degree panoramic view of the Belize River Valley. Visit one or all of the outlying ruins that surround this magnificent city.

Lubaantun is unique because of the crystal skull that was found there. The skull, about 5 inches wide and 7 inches long and weighing about 6 pounds, is carved in two pieces The skull itself and a moveable jaw. What makes it special is it is carved out solid quartz crystal. Scientists have dated it long before the Mayans ever occupied the region.

Nil Li Punit (nim-lee-poo-nit) has its special place in th Maya world. It has 25 original standing carved monuments including the longest in Belize at some 60 feet in length. There are also many tombs that have been discovered recently at this small but ceremonial location.
